Power ball (Max 5/35)¶
Max 5/35 picks one special ball from the same 1-35 pool as the mains, with one special per draw. Expected count per ball is draws / 35 -- much smaller than for mains, so the spread of observed counts will look proportionally larger. That is variance, not signal.
The special ball can match a main here
Unlike Power 6/55 (where the power ball has never repeated a main in over 1,300 draws), Max 5/35's special does overlap with one of the mains in roughly 12% of draws. That matches the expected rate for an independent draw from the same 1-35 pool: 5 / 35 ~ 14.3%. So the two products' draw machines really do behave differently.
